Why is it good to have plants in your office? This is not just the matter of aesthetics but also the very important health matter, especially helpful against indoor air pollution. Many people are not aware that indoor air pollution is significant problem across the globe. In fact according to World Health Organization (WHO) indoor air pollution is responsible for more than 1.6 million deaths each year. Indoor air pollution can emanate from many different sources such as paints, varnishes, furnishings, clothing, solvents, building materials, tap water, etc. Simple plants can be excellent ally in fight against indoor air pollution.

The indoor air quality is very important in much of the developed world since we spend more than 90% of our time indoors. Some areas have tremendous problems with indoor air pollution, in fact there were some reports where levels of indoor air pollution were more than ten time bigger that outdoor air pollution in some areas. We all want to have clean air in our working place, and exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOC) from indoor air pollution can have serious negative effects on our health by causing chronic diseases including cancer, neurologic, reproductive, respiratory disorders, etc.

And thew most simplest way to fight against indoor air pollution is adding some plants to your office since some of them have the ability to effectively remove harmful VOCs from the air (this ability of certain plants is called phytoremediation) turning your office into a healthier place.

So now when you know that plants can provide you with better cleaner air you certainly want to know what plants have the best VOC's removing ability. If you want the "best VOC's removing plants" then make sure to choose one of these plants Hemigraphis alternata (purple waffle plant), Hedera helix (English ivy), Hoya carnosa (variegated wax plant), and Asparagus densiflorus (Asparagus fern).

By introducing these simple plants to your office you can significantly improve the air quality in your office. Even if you don't like plants you should definitely consider adding at least one plant to your office cause there are some serious health benefits. And health comes before anything else.
